The need
Switch and socket ranges come in dozens of colours and variants of the same product, and the boxes look alike. If "where is it" depends on people while a new warehouse grows, picking errors start with the first busy season. Exen wanted shelves tied to the system before that habit could form.
The solution
The warehouse was addressed by rack and bin with Nitrogen PDA's advanced warehouse module. Items are put away to a location at receipt and orders are picked location by location on the shortest route; the handheld won't accept the wrong location or item.
The results
- Every item's shelf is in the system, not in someone's memory
- Look-alike variants don't get mixed up thanks to barcode checks
- Order holds as the warehouse grows
