The need
In retail, mistakes usually start at the two ends of the chain. On one end, purchasing places orders without knowing how much the stores sold; on the other, a store can't sell an item it thinks is out of stock while it sits in the warehouse. At B1, purchase requests, warehouse movements and till sales were kept in separate places. Answering "why did we buy this much" or "why did this store run out" meant putting several files side by side.
The solution
Stores sell on Nitrogen POS, and revenue and sales are visible at HQ instantly. In the warehouse, receiving and transfers to stores are done by barcode with Nitrogen PDA. Purchase requests and approvals run through purchasing management on the Nitrogen platform; the approved order is posted to Mikro and goods are received against that same order. Reports read purchasing, warehouse and till movements together.
The results
- Purchasing decisions are made with store sales in view
- Incoming goods are received by barcode against the approved order
- Purchasing, warehouse and tills in one report
