A standard ERP order screen is built around item code, quantity and price. For products made to measure or configured with options, such as blinds, doors, glass, furniture, signage or machinery, the real information is width, height, colour, accessories and mounting type. When that goes into a notes field, production misreads it, prices are worked out by hand and quotes do not match invoices.
What is dynamic order management?
It is a setup in which order forms that change by product group, pricing formulas tied to those fields, and the approval and status stages an order passes through can all be defined without writing code.
Three core components
- Dynamic forms: Choose a roller blind and you are asked for width, height, fabric and mechanism; choose a door and you are asked for opening direction and frame type. Required fields stop incomplete orders.
- Formula pricing: Formulas by m², metre, unit and option, with minimum sizes, rounding and customer-specific discounts. The price is calculated as the order is entered.
- Rule-based flow: High discounts or exceeded risk limits go to the right manager automatically, and order status is visible at every stage.
Where to start
- Pick the product group with the most errors and list the information an order must capture.
- Write down how the price is calculated from that information as a formula.
- Decide which situations need approval and who approves them.
- Define the stages an order passes through (approval, production, ready, shipped) and when the customer should be notified.
Nitrogen's dynamic order management system builds this on top of Mikro ERP: approved orders become stock reservations or production orders, and dealers can order through the same forms on Nitrogen B2B.
